Chapter 5 of Inquiry in Music Education focuses on philosophy as a tool for research in music education:

•     Understanding what distinguishes philosophical inquiry from other types of research;

•     Recognizing valid and clearly defined evidence in philosophical inquiry;

•     Articulating your own beliefs in light of new or established belief systems; and

•     Initiating a study in the philosophical mode of inquiry.
