Chapter 13 of Inquiry in Music Education:

• Introduces mixed methods research, practitioner inquiry/action research, and arts-based research;

• Summarizes how all three approaches use both qualitative and quantitative procedures;

• Discusses history and evolution, defining qualities, and features examples from the three approaches; and

• Provides guidelines for expanding on previous textbook materials to propose a project for one or a combination of the three approaches.
